……… from the cotton fields of the Mississippi Delta to the back street bars of Chicago, Jook Joint evokes the authentic sound of the blues.

Jook Joint  - Alan Draisey, Pete Smith & John Anderson,  has been playing the pubs and bars around Gloucester, Cheltenham and the Forest of Dean, where they are based, since1999. They are a regular support act at the Blue Front Blues Room blues club at the Miner’s Arms, Whitecroft, supporting artists such as Eddie Martin, Michael Messer, Kent DuChaine and Dave Kelly and host on ‘Blue Front Blues’ on Forest of Dean Radio.

Festival appearances have included the 2001 Blues Festival at the Diving Duck Blues Club in Cheltenham, the 2002 & 2003 Linton Festival of Music & Ale, the 2002 & 2003 Gloucester Festival Blues Trail and the 2003 Coleford Festival. 

Jook Joint plays an acoustic mix of country blues, ragtime and jug band music with shades of Muddy Waters era Chicago. Driven by 12 strings, twin Dobros and bullet harp, the repertoire includes numbers from all the country blues greats such as Robert Johnson, Blind Boy Fuller, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Skip James, Sleepy John Estes, Jesse Fuller and Leadbelly.
