Singer, guitarist and songwriter born and raised in Mississippi. Has played in Gloucester several times, notably at The New Olympus Theatre in 2005 alongside The Mike Sanchez Rhythm and Blues Revue and Andy Fairweather Low. Accompanied on double bass by Big Town Playboy Ian Jennings.

Keyboard player with Bonnie Raitt touring with his own American band - a salty-sweet voice, masterful piano skills, and a knack for coupling infectious grooves with melodic hooks and sharp lyrics. Born in Kent, but moved to New Orleans when he was 17 and quickly gained the respect of the local music community and has worked with Taj Mahal, B.B. King, and Ryan Adams amongst many.

Acoustic guitarist singer-songwriter, who also runs the Sutton Coldfield Blues Collective.

Oxfordshire guitarist Andy Douse with his new rocking blues band.

9pm, Will Killeen - The Cross Keys Inn
Irish acoustic blues player with totally unique style. Celtic roots mixed with American blues delivered with percussive guitar and whirling vocals.

11am Centre for African-American Music, Performing Arts Library, Greyfriars.
American ‘songster-bluesman’ and Piedmont style guitarist Michael Roach, and UK harmonica king Paul Lamb will lead two-hour workshops, ending with a free concert between 1pm-2pm.

9pm, Talking / Blues with Mumbo Jumbo and The Wooden Horse of Dr. Troy - Dick Whittington
A brand new feature for this year’s Festival with acoustic 3 piece outfit Mumbo Jumbo, with Oliver Carpenter, Chris Gibbons, and Chris Lomas, teamed up with Midlands poet and raconteur Dave Reeves – ‘mixing free-reed blues with anarchic humour’. Something completely different.

 

9pm, Jamie Thyer and his new band - Deans Walk
Former Worried Men frontman with new outfit. The Festival wouldn’t be the same without Jamie tearing the night apart with his brand of rockin’ blues and repartee.

Thursday 31 July
8.30pm, The Steve Browning Band  - New Inn Hotel
A modern blues sound, mixing blues with elements of jazz, funk, and rock.

9pm, Bridget and The Big Girls Blues - The Cross Keys Inn
Stalwart of the local Gloucester blues scene
A great voice reminiscent of the classic American blues singers of the 20s and 30s.

9pm, Innes Sibun Band - Café René

One of the UK’s finest rocking blues guitarists. One of the most popular acts at the last few Festivals.

9pm, Oliver Darling - Dick Whittington
Playing at Café Rene on Saturday 2nd August with his band The Dirty Robbers, Oliver is making a name for himself on the UK circuit as guitarist with Mike Sanchez. Here he plays some of the music that has influenced him, including tracks by Big Bill Broonzy, Charles Brown, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, and The Beatles.

Friday 1 August
8.30pm, The Suspects - Pig Inn The City  
The usual ones too, with their blend of music that explores the edges of the blues.

9pm, Robin Chandler and The Howling Tomcats - Teagues
Straight ahead Chicago and Delta Blues band.

8pm, Howard Smith & The Razors - Café Rene
Another Festival regular. Listen out for that great Sonny Landreth guitar sound.

Saturday 2 August
Café René
Over the next 2 days Café René will host an eclectic mix of their favourite artists, some straight blues based, and some on the fringes and beyond the blues genre.

6pm The Dirty Robbers
Festival favourite Oliver Darling is back with his partners in crime. Recently done a session on the Mark Lamarr BBC Radio 2 Show both with The Robbers and Palookaville. People are starting to take notice.
